CHAPPEL & WAKES COLNE CRICKET CLUB

Welcome to the Chappel & Wakes Colne Cricket Club website.

The club has now been playing at The Hobbies for twenty two years having previously played all our games away from home for several years after losing the home ground at Viaduct farm in Chappel. The club is currently thriving with 3 senior teams all being boosted by the current selection of colts players who have contributed greatly to the teams- The first and second teams both play in the PDQ Cars cricket league with the firsts in Division one and the seconds in Division 3. The third team is a very friendly team which comprises colts,and any other sort of player that likes a game of cricket.

During the winter months Chappel have an indoor cricket side in the Braintree indoor cricket league and play in Division one having gained consecutive promotions over the past four years. The indoor season starts in October and finishes in April with games being played on a sunday. 

We also have a variety of colts players of all different ages starting from 8 years up to 14/15 year olds. Some of the age ranges play in the Colchester and District youth cricket league. Colts practice is on a Monday night commencing from the first week in May to sometime in early september 6.00pm start. Tuesday nights are club nights when all players are welcome to practice in the nets and this is when the weekend teams are selected.

We have a fully licensed and stocked bar for those people that just want to come up for a drink. Spectators are all very welcome. 

We will try and keep you up to date with all the latest news and gossip during the 2008 season.

NEW PLAYERS

As with many other competitive sports, cricket sometimes struggles to attract new young players.  There are many distraction these days, not just computers, to draw potential players away from the game.  But new players are our lifeblood and we can easily accommodate new recruits.
