My name is Rebecca Havard and I run a rattery in Kilndown near Tunbridge Wells in West Kent, which is in the South East of England. My primary aim in breeding is to improve the longevity, health and personality/temperament of the lines I breed and hopefully a few along the way will be show winners as well.
Karnimata is my National Fancy Rat Society (NFRS) registered rattery name and all the rats I breed have this prefix to their names. One day I hope to gain an NFRS stud name and it may be that a member of the litter pictured below, now all grown up into a beautiful young doe, will earn me that stud name. Fingers crossed!
The name Karnimata was inspired by the Indian mystic and warrior Karni Mata who has a temple dedicated to her in Deshnok, India. At this temple, the wild rats are revered and cared for as they are believed to carry the souls of Karni Mata's descendents (see a video of the temple here.)
I am a member of many rat clubs - the NFRS, the London and Southern Counties Mouse and Rat Club, the Midlands Rat Club, the Estuary Rat Club - and show my rats at many of their shows.
I currently breed towards Black Eyed Siamese and Black fancy rats with top ears and dumbo ears and a straight coat. I have plans to also introduce rex coat in the future once my lines are fully established.
I almost always have other varieties of rats as well as part of breeding for the varieties I am aiming for. The My Rats page shows all of my present rats with photos
Please have a look at my Current Litters and Planned Litters pages for information on what kittens I have available and what is coming up in the future and contact me if you are interested in any of the litters that you see here.
