I got involved with Staffordshire bull terriers in 1990, I met a few with wonderful temperaments and despite all advise from family members who didn’t know the breed went ahead and bought my first red bitch. I have owned many breeds over the last 16 years including bull terriers, border terriers, labradors, springer and cocker spaniels and Italian spinone, but I have always had S
taffords with the others. in 1994 I bought a white and black pied bitch to mate to Ch Domino Flashy Lad (arnie) who in my mind is one of the best Staffords I have ever had the pleasure to meet but unfortunately the bitch contracted pyometra and had to be spayed during the 6th week of her pregnancy to save her life. I was devastated but luckily armies owners knew of a litter born that had a red and white pied bitch available. I went to see them and immediately fell in love with Dolly (solar spirit) and she became my foundation bitch. She has produced four wonderful litters in her life before being spayed and has given joy to many families with her beautiful puppies. Her daughters Teigan and Daisy have continued the lines and we now have Dollys great grandaughter here to continue her family

In 1999 I decided that I wanted a robust energetic dog that could cope with the rough and tumble play of a staffy and could also be good as a working dog but not be as demanding as a spaniel. My best friend Catherine Jefferson had lived with me for a while with her Spanish water dogs and they seemed to fit the bill. In 2003 when she had a litter from one of my favorite bitches’ Pemontell Alicia I fell in love with one of the bitches, a little cream with a black nose but at the time Catherine already had someone wanting her. Luckily for me that person decided not to have her and buffy joined us. We decided to register an affix with the kennel club and after much deliberations came up with spanaffy which is span from Spanish water dog and affy from my beloved staffys.
Buffy did her first season in the field in 2004 where she did extremely well and has now done 4 seasons in the field including one on grouse. In 2005 I imported Canadian Champion Penstaff Gunner Go Back To Spanaffy from Fleur Hardy. He had come from 2 pups I had sent to her from Teigan and her sister Pepsi. In 2005 I decided to put him to Daisy and Archie was born, he has gone to a great home where he is used at stud and i hope to one day bring daisys line back in by using him. We have one of Dollys Great Grandaughters here called Flynn and we have now decided to keep Sasha Daisy daughter from her last mating to Herodotus Sodamtuff before she was spayed. Buffy continues to work hard in the field and now she is spayed will have more oppertunities while Dolly works hard to stay on the settee as much as she can. we have three springer spaniels that are worked in the field and while they are not hyperactive time bombs from field trial champion mated to field trial champion, they are good solid honest working dogs who are as happy with a run on the moor as they are with a full days work. we will shortly only have 6 dogs and am looking forward to being able to put them all in the car and dissappear off for a few days away in the summer.
